State-of-the-art ventilation systems for labs and clean rooms

01/09/2011

Energy efficiency is arguably one of the most talked-about topics these days. This is all the more true for long-term investments, such as buildings, where a considerable percentage of the costs are operational running costs that will be incurred over many years (life cycle costs).

To meet this challenge, companies have their products increasingly certified to comply with the standards set by DGNB, Green-Building, LEED, BREEAM, or TÜV Süd. Not surprisingly, modern ventilation and air-conditioning technology is a decisive factor in buildings, as the design and operation of demand based ventilation systems can reduce both capital and operating costs. These systems do not only have to transport the air but also to filter, heat, cool, or humidify / dehumidify it.

TROX has positioned itself as the technological leader in this field, and offers ventilation and air-conditioning components as well as complete air management systems. As a member of the DGNB, the German Sustainable Building Council, TROX demonstrates that sustainability is actually built into its products.

Flexible operating solutions are crucial to demand-based and energy-efficient operation of ventilation systems. TROX EASYLAB is a new self-contained system which is ideally suited to research laboratories, clean rooms in the pharmaceutical or semiconductor industry, operating theatres in hospitals, and any other application with exceptional requirements of volume flow and pressure control.

EASYLAB allows users to select the operating mode priority, i.e. to have the operating mode pre-set by the central BMS, but also to individually set parameters for a whole room or an individual fume cupboard using the control panel.

This operating strategy enables users to adjust ventilation to actual demand, e.g. to reduce cooling when a building is not fully occupied or during vacations and / or weekends. Another option is to temporarily shut off individual rooms when they are not in use.

Thanks to the new manual mode, users always remain in control and can change settings independently of the BMS pre-set values, e.g. to extend the operating time in the evening or on weekends. Clear symbols and the display of actual values keep users informed of the current operating status and of any possible action.

The control panel can be adjusted to individual requirements at any time by simply adjusting the system configuration. The EASYLAB system is expandable and very flexible, and can be installed in new buildings as well as in retrofit projects.
