Active chilled beams supply fresh air to the space from a central plant room to maintain indoor air quality whilst providing additional cooling and/or heating using heat exchangers.
The fresh air is discharged into the beam mixing chambers via nozzles. As a result of this secondary air is induced via an inlet grille and then passes through vertically mounted heat exchangers into the mixing chambers. Here it is mixed with the fresh air and the total supply air is discharged horizontally into the space through integral slot diffusers.
The selection of eight nominal lengths combined with three nozzle sizes each permits an optimum adaptation to the required outside air flow rate and the thermal output, at low sound power and low differential pressure.
Heat exchangers are available in two variants.With the two pipe system, cooling is possible, while heating is possible in changeover mode. The four pipe systems lets any room be heated or cooled at any time independently of other rooms. Condensate drip trays that take up any condensate produced in case the dew point is undershot in cooling mode are located underneath the heat exchangers. Long-term operation under the dew point (wet operation) must be avoided.
